To many, exercise is an important part of leading a healthy and balanced lifestyle. But, for those that have dry, irritable or eczema-prone skin, it can often become an uncomfortable activity due to flare-ups caused by increased heat, sweat and extreme changes in body temperature.

AVEENO® appreciates the role healthy-looking skin plays in helping people to feel confident whilst at the gym. After all, when people’s skin feels good, they feel good!

With this in mind, and with National Eczema Week taking place this September, AVEENO®is excited to unveil a specialised ‘skin loving’ work-out for those who may typically limit exercise or avoid large gym classes that can often lead to these irritating flare-ups.

The one-off event took place on Level 40 of the iconic London building, The Gherkin, on Monday 26th September and will be hosted by leading celebrity fitness trainer, Ciara Madden(pictured), who has worked with the likes of Rita Ora and Maya Jama. The top floor space offers impressive 360° panorama views of the city, providing an unforgettable and calming setting where guests can get fit with confidence.

Working in partnership with AVEENO®, Ciara has curated a bespoke workout designed to limit the triggers of sensitive skin, using a combination of mindful movement and adjusted HIIT exercises, so attendees don’t need to be distracted by the fear of unwanted flare-ups. As well as the specially crafted routine, Ciara will talk at length to guests about the importance of hydration and skin after-care to protect and restore the skin barrier, which may be compromised following a workout.

The low-sweat session will take place from 7:15 – 8:15 am (including a warm-up and cool-down) offering the perfect way to set everyone up for the working day – body and mind. Those who secure a spot will also enjoy a skin-nourishing smoothie to restore the skin’s balance from within.

Ticket holders will also receive an AVEENO® branded goody bag including full-sized products from its renowned Dermexa range, which is clinically proven to help soothe and protect very dry, itchy skin, and is also suitable for people who may be prone to eczema.

Its Dermexa Daily Emollient Cream helps reduce flare-ups of intense skin dryness and soothes the skin for immediate comfort, and its Dermexa Fast & Long-Lasting Balm helps to strengthen the skin barrier and improve its natural microbiome.

The goody bag will also include an AVEENO® branded water bottle to encourage additional hydration throughout the day as the skin barrier repairs.

Dry and eczema-prone skin should not stop people from feeling their best and achieving daily goals such as exercise. In fact, 1.3 million people suffer from eczema in the UK and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. AVEENO® hopes that those that experience this unique workout will be inspired to get fit with confidence.

Welcome

Hello,

Welcome to my blog.

I'm Samson. I’ve always loved storytelling. And I’m fascinated by people … their lives, their experiences.

Remember the person you sat next to in school … the who always asked ‘Why?’ … the one you hoped would shut up?

Well that's me.

I am passionate about asking why particularly those in authority, using journalism and communications to tell stories and about social change.

When Ed Miliband was running as Labour leader, his silence on foreign policy caused me to ask him what his Afghanistan policy was.

At De Montfort University, I spoke to the city's local MP Liz Kendall about social mobility and tuition fees - a critical issue shortly after they had been raised to a maximum of £9,000 for future students.

I have been fortunate to be associated with well known organisations such as Transport for London (TfL). I was given the opportunity to thrive and developed a strong interest in road schemes.

Like most people, I am all about fairness for everyone.

I saw this first hand at TfL in many ways. One example was the way in which people of all backgrounds and ages were welcomed into the Press Office to learn about its work and be perhaps be inspired to work in the transport industry.

This purpose has motivated me to deepen my involvement with the Well Tell You mental health research projects with 42nd Street Manchester. I am volunteering with a Manchester University schizophrenia awareness study to help give these people the life they deserve.

I'm a very curious person, so I'm curious to know what you think about my blog.

Feel free to leave your comments all around the site and let's start a conversation.
